A Bridge to Independence
Dorothy is an 86- year old enrollee in Family Care. In April 2006 she was admitted to a nursing home for rehab services after surgery. Her Family Care team even though she constantly expressed her desire to do so. She remained in the nursing home for a year until she contacted DRW who assisted her to get services to move back to her apartment. Now Dorothy once again has her independence. David had a multitude of family law issues regarding his children when he was released from prison. The Portage County Legal Aid Society contract

John, who developed AIDS, was given a prognosis of only a few weeks to live. He needed help planning his small estate and couldn’t afford an attorney. An
AIDS Network staff attorney met with him in his small apartment, discussed his options with him, and helped him to complete his needed documents, including a will. A Bridge to Survival
Sally was shot in the head by her husband before he shot and killed himself.
Miraculously, Sally survived, albeit with serious neurological damage. Her brother
and sister-in-law sought CASDA’s assistance to secure guardianship of Sally and
her children. CASDA was able secure the guardianship and also assist with name
change and probate matters, as the shooter’s creditors were pursuing the family’ finances. Happily, while Sally still needs significant assistance, she has

June 22, 2010 - The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) adopted a final rule extending the Transaction Account Guarantee (TAG) program for six months, from July 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010. Under the TAG program, customers of participating insured depository institutions are provided full coverage on qualifying transaction accounts. more |
| New FDIC rule extends insurance coverage on IOLTA accounts until at least December 31, 2010
On April 13, 2010, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) approved interim rules extending the Transaction Account Guarantee (TAG) Program to December 31, 2010. The rule provides for unlimited insurance for non-interest bearing transaction accounts (including IOLTA and functionally equivalent accounts), regardless of dollar amount, held in participating financial institutions. The rule also allows for the FDIC to extend the program through December 31, 2011 if the FDIC determines that economic conditions warrant such an extension. more |
