OUR MISSION

The Wisconsin Trust Account Foundation Inc. (WisTAF) is dedicated to equal access to the civil justice system, funding legal services for low-income persons through the fair and effective administration of Interest On Lawyers' Trust Accounts (IOLTA), Public Interest Legal Services Fund (PILSF), and other sources.

Wisconsin Access to Justice Commission Hosts Public Forums in Green Bay and Eau Claire

July 2012 - Community members and advocates attended the first regional access to justice hearings convened by the Wisconsin Access to Justice Commission. Green Bay and Eau Claire are the first communities to host public forums creating an opportunity to share experiences in responding to the overwhelming civil legal needs facing low-income area residents. more


WisTAF 2015 Grant Application Materials Available July 8th

Fiscal year 2013 budget requests sent to Congress

Washington, DC—The White House today recommended $402 million in funding for the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) in Fiscal Year 2013, an increase of $54 million from current funding. more more

Continued low interest rates could spell disaster for IOLTA

The U.S. Federal Reserve said Wednesday it will not raise interest rates until at least late 2014. Contingent on these interest rates, IOLTA (Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts) funds legal service organizations which provide invaluable services to low-income Wisconsinites dealing with disability claims, unfair landlords, benefits denials, and much more. more


Supreme Court denies "Civil Gideon" petition

From the Wisconsin Access to Justice Commission blog dated January 19, 2012: Today, the Wisconsin Supreme Court voted unanimously to deny Petition 10-08. The petitioners were requesting a new court rule that would have required circuit court judges to appoint attorneys at public expense for low income litigants in certain types of civil court cases. more
